Levi's 501 jeansThe Levi's 501 is the most famous model of the American jeans brand. The pants have a Levi's Original Fit (also called Regular-Fit ) with slightly tapered legs and the characteristic Button Fly, or buttoned fly. These classic Levi jeans should not be missing in your wardrobe and are a real collector's item!
The legendary Levi's 501 dates back to 1973, when the very first Levi jeans were launched by Oskar Levi Strauss. Today, more than four billion pieces of these men's jeans have been sold worldwide, making them the most worn piece of clothing in the world. The Levi's 501 can still be found in the range after spacious 130 years and is still at least as popular as in its first years. The number 501 refers to the first shipment of blue cotton that was shipped to America from Nimes in France for the production of the Levi's jeans. In fact, this Levi 501 became the forerunner of all other Levi jeans. During the early years of Levi's success, this Levi's 501 has actually remained unchanged. The men's jeans were sewn onto a piece of denim measuring exactly 71 cm wide, so that the so-called selvedges fell exactly on the bite side of the legs. As the success grew, so did the production, after 1984 the 501 jeans were made on larger looms for a faster and more precise production.
